Background to the partnership

Omaze was founded in the US in 2012 and established itself in the UK in 2020. Since then, the Omaze community has raised in excess of £56,000,000 for some of Britain’s favourite charities, including: Teenage Cancer Trust, British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie, Alzheimer’s Research UK, the RSPCA.

James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze, said: “Omaze offers people the chance to win amazing houses, like this incredible house in Cornwall, whilst also introducing charities to large new audiences that would otherwise be out of reach – it’s a win-win for entrants and charities. We’re immensely proud that the Omaze community has now raised over £56 million for good causes across the UK.”

And at the end of Summer 2024, it was the RSPB’s turn!

A strong partnership delivering a record-breaking amount!

The project got off to a flying start when the stunning house in Cornwall was revealed. The most amazing property in a great location and with stunning sea views! This was a prize that everyone would want to win. So, the team got to work and over a period of just six weeks, the RSPB alongside the Omaze team, delivered an integrated, cross-channel campaign, supported by our amazing ambassador Deborah Meaden. This not only increased entries to the Draw but also enabled us to reach new audiences - from landing key RSPB brand messages with Omaze audiences to influencer engagement from the likes of Peter Andre! These funds will play a critical role in delivering RSPB's peatland restoration projects

Healthy peatlands are one of nature’s greatest superpowers (click here to find out more about peatland restoration). They provide homes for wildlife, improve water quality, prevent flooding and lock away carbon, helping the fight against climate change. Covering just 3% of the planet, they store more carbon than all the world’s forests. But they’re in big trouble, with about 80% of UK peatland damaged or deteriorating.

These funds will be put to good use to deliver incredible peatland work in Scotland including RSPB Forsinard Flows with more sites to follow across the UK, across northern England, northern Ireland, and mid Wales.

Beccy Speight – RSPB CEO:

“On behalf of everybody at the RSPB, I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to every single person who entered this draw.

Nature is in crisis and the UK is now one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. The money we receive from the Omaze campaign will go directly to help protect and restore our precious UK peatlands – one of nature’s greatest superpowers.

This incredible support allows the RSPB to continue our vital work to protect habitats, save species and help to end the nature and climate emergency. Together, we can save nature!”
