Scarp Trail and Meadow Trail aren't suitable for wheels. Woodland Trail 0.75 mile (900 m), with a viewpoint overlooking RSPB West Sedgemoor. Part of this trail, to the Heronry Hide and the picnic area, is level and smooth. No steps, gates, or other width restrictions.

Heronry hide and our variety of viewpoints are a great place to spot the special wildlife here and offer outstanding views over Swell Wood.
We have one hide and five viewpoints in total. One wooden hide with flat entry access, 20 m from the car park. Enclosed on three sides with large open ‘window’ at front.
One viewpoint with a picnic bench on the Woodland Trail, 200 m. Exposed viewpoints, with benches along the Scarp Trail, all without arms and back support.

BBQs are a fire risk, endangering other people and the precious wildlife and habitats here. They are not permitted on the reserve at any time.
There is no visitor centre here and this reserve does not have any staff on site. Information is provided on arrival via an interpretation board.
There is no cafe or shop here, the nearest places for food and drinks are from the neighbouring villages of Fivehead (1 mile/1.6 km) and Curry Rivel (2 miles/3 km) or the town of Langport (4 miles/6.5 km). .
We recommend you bring your own food and drinks if this is likely to affect your visit.
You are welcome to bring a picnic with you to enjoy on your visit. Our picnic area is located by the viewpoint over the Somerset Levels on the Woodland walk trail. One picnic table in the picnic area.
Restrictions
Dogs on leads are welcome on the Scarp Trail section of the nature reserve. Please note this trail is not suitable for wheels. Dogs can die in hot cars, please do not leave your dog in the car when visiting us. Sorry, dogs are not permitted on the Woodland Trail, Meadow Trail or into the Heronry hide other than assistance dogs.
