Reserve guides

Minsmere's friendly volunteer guides are here to help.

  • Are you interested in Minsmere's history or management?
  • Have you ever wanted to explore the hidden Minsmere?
  • Do you simply want an expert guide?

Meet our friendly volunteers in the hides or around Minsmere's circular walks. Please ask at reception to find out where our guides are, and which species they'll be looking for.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteer guides, as we currently can't guarantee someone will always be available to help you, but we're working on it!

If you're planning a visit, you can book a volunteer guide for a half day guided walk (up to three hours). We'll tailor each walk to suit your needs and focus on the wildlife you want to see (as the wildlife is, well, wild, we can't always guarantee what you'll see, but we will try our hardest).

These tours are also great for small groups, wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and anyone wanting advice on improving their photography.

A full list of available dates and prices to hire a guide can be found on our events page.

Bluebells at Minsmere, South Belt

Minsmere 4x4 safaris

These are a great way for small groups (maximum four people) to explore the hidden Minsmere from the comfort of a 4x4 vehicle. You'll discover how we keep Minsmere in tip top condition, and see parts of the reserve not normally accessible to visitors. They make a great gift for a loved one with a wildside!

A full list of available safari dates and prices can be found on our events page.
