Nature trails are owned and managed by Dwr Cymru but you can follow them onto RSPB land.
The first trail is a circular 'easy access' trail (managed by Welsh Water/Dŵr Cymru). The path surface is compacted crushed stone that is flat or slightly sloping.
The return leg of this trail follows the route of the access road back to the visitor centre.

Binocular Hire
None, but set in spectacular mountain scenery. Great views along the River Elan and the Caban Coch dam from cafe.
Three trails go from the visitor centre through Dwr Cymru woodland, with one trail leading through into the RSPB reserve at Carngafallt.
From the visitor centre follow the Tarmac and crushed stone path towards the dam. Cross the river via the stone footbridge and follow the signposts.
One of these trails leads through into RSPB Carngafallt; a map is available from the visitor centre on request and rangers will be happy to provide directions.
Alternatively, rather than following the woodland trails, leave the visitor centre on foot along the road and turn right over the bailey bridge, following the road through the Elan Village. The road crosses the cattle grid as it enters the RSPB woodland. Over the cattle grid, turn immediately right along the footpath into the woodland to follow the trail through the reserve.
These trails are narrow compacted earth trails that have steep, muddy sections. For these sturdy footwear is recommended.
