Dearne Valley - Adwick Washland
OpenSee opening timesDiscover RSPB Adwick Washland, a jewel in the crown of the Dearne Valley Reserves. Former farmland in the Dearne Valley floodplain, Adwick Washland is now a thriving wetland and grassland habitat that hosts fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities year round.
About
Adwick Washland in the Dearne Valley is a special place of ever changing vistas and wide-open skies. What was once an area of farmed fields has since been transformed into wet grassland and marshes, home to lots of fascinating wildlife such as Wigeons, Redshank and Kestrels.
A bridleway runs through the site and a short path takes you to a central viewing point with panoramic views across the washland. A further 2.5 km of permissive paths allow visitors to walk the perimeter of the site. The river Dearne flows past the southern edge of the site and can be taken in as part of a circular walk from the car park on Furlong Road. To access the parking please use this postcode: DN5 7FR
